I moved up to the Yukon in 2000 and have lived in many Yukon communities since then, including Carmacks, Whitehorse, Watson Lake and now Burwash Landing.
I find peace and comfort in the vast wildness of the Yukon and cannot imagine living anywhere else.

I love being at home with my partner and toddler, but when I do have a moment to myself, I enjoy things like beading, digital art and video games to help me decompress.

I graduated from F.H Collins in 2007 and afterwards took on a career as a Paramedic. I had to step away from that role in 2018 and made the move to the home I am currently in now and into the role I am currently in as an Administrative Assistant.

Hello all.

Having 35+ years working with students from Day Care to K-12 to college, I moved back to Yukon, from Alberta, to work for Kluane First Nation.

As the Education Coordinator, it is my pleasure to work with the First Nation School Board. I am proud to be able to support all the changes and innovations being made by FNSB.

Lenita Tulasen Alatini was born in Whitehorse Yukon, 2001 to her parents Mathieya and Tevita Alatini. She was raised both in Burwash Landing and Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Lenita moved back to the Yukon in 2010, when her mom (Mathieya Alatini) was elected chief of Kluane First Nation. 

She lived in Burwash Landing from 2010-2016 and attended Kluane Lake School where she now works as a Southern Tutchone language teacher. 

Lenita works with students and staff to strengthen all our connections to the land we live on and with. She spends time with students on the land sharing trapping, harvesting gathering skills and traditional teachings.

In 2016 her family moved to Whitehorse full time to pursue education for both Lenita and her younger brother Malakai. Lenita graduated from FH collins secondary school in 2019 and her brother Malakai graduated from St, Francis secondary school in 2024. 

In 2021 Lenita moved back to her community Burwash Landing and continues to reside in her traditional territory.

Bio

Hi, my name is Kaisha, and I'm excited to be teaching at Kluane Lake School.

I grew up in Ontario and completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of Toronto before earning my Bachelor of Education from York University. Before becoming a teacher, I spent many years working with children as a camp counselor, babysitter, and teacher in South Korea. I also worked as a caregiver, supporting elderly individuals and people with disabilities, including cerebral palsy.

I began teaching in 2021 and spent four years teaching in Nunavut before making the move to the Yukon in January 2026. While I loved my time in Nunavut, I eventually realized I really missed being around trees! The mountains, forests, and strong sense of community are a big part of what drew me to this area.

I love working with young learners because no two days are ever the same. There's something special about watching children discover new things, build confidence, and find joy in learning. In my classroom, you'll often find students learning through hands-on activities, following their interests, asking lots of questions, and occasionally making a bit of a mess along the way.

I believe that learning is about more than academics. I hope students leave my classroom with kindness, empathy, self-compassion, perseverance, and a belief that mistakes are a normal and important part of learning. As someone with ADHD, I also have a special interest in supporting neurodivergent learners and helping students recognize their own strengths.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy hiking, gaming, travelling, and spending time with my family. I look forward to getting to know the students, families, and community of Kluane Lake School.

My names Alissa Burton and I am the proud Intermediate Teacher at Kluane Lake School. The 2026/27 school year will be my third year at the school. I am originally from Ontario and grew up in the GTA. I graduated from Sheridan College in 2017  where I got my honours bachelors degree in Early Childhood Leadership. I also attended Niagara University in New York where I recieved my Masters in Education and teaching license in 2024. Coming to Lhu'ààn Mân Keyi has been an incredible journey and I am thrilled to be a part of such a welcoming community. I enjoy exploring the vast landscape with the learners at Kluane Lake School and learning along side them on the land.

My name is Freziageil Ayieshia Dela Cruz, but most people call me Ishi. I was born and grew up in the Philippines. I moved to Canada in 2019, first living in Ontario. In 2020S, I moved to Destruction Bay and Burwash Landing, and I am proud to call it home now. I work as an Educational Assistant at Kluane Lake School. My job is to help students learn and to make sure the school environment is positive, welcoming, and supportive for everyone, so all students can do well. I like getting to work closely with students, staff, and families. I also enjoy being part of a school community that encourages growth, respect, and learning throughout life. Living in different countries and communities has really made me appreciate diversity and how important it is to connect with people.
